A wholly-owned Subsidiary of the Hong Kong Society for the Blind
To improve the independence and equal participation of the visually impaired in community activities in Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Society for the Blind (HKSB) set up the Consultancy Service Unit and a Braille and Tactile Section at our Factory for the Blind in 2000. These two service units provided one-stop service ranging from design consultancy services to supply and installation of barrier free access products for public and private organizations.
In 2005, HKSB received a grant from ‘Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities through Small Enterprise’ Project to set up the Barrier Free Access Technology Service Unit to further promote the importance of barrier free access and create more work opportunities for the people with disabilities.
To meet with social needs and to further enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the service and product development, Barrier Free Access (HK) Limited (BFAHK) was established on 1 October 2011 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of HKSB. Apart from providing professional one-stop service in barrier free access, we also engage in public education so as to strength public understanding of barrier free facilities. We will keep abreast of the times to develop the most advanced and appropriate products for building a barrier free community for the visually impaired.
